Forgotten Books

I was clearing out the cellar in the office the other day, and noticed two boxes of books that I read years ago and in the meantime  forgotten.

Each book was written, perhaps over the course of a year (or a decade), by a smart, passionate person with something to share. All of that focus and insight, generously shared with anyone who wants to take the time.

It reminded me of how much is out there, just waiting for us to explore and understand. We have a chance to learn and move forward if we care to.

George Harrison: The Experience

November is a time for remembering and by chance I came upon this old interview with George Harrison, the quiet Beatle. It's impressive, with some good photos of the Beatles in the sixties before he connected to the Indian philosophies and became deeply spiritual, misunderstood and ahead of his time.

"The purpose of life is to find out "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" and "Where am I going?"

His basic message - nothing lasts. All flows, nothing lasts. Not your enemies, not your fortune, not who you sleep with at night, not the books, not the house in Marbella, -nothing lasts. To the degree that you avert your gaze from this truth, you build the potential for pain into your life. Everything worthwhile is the act of embracing the present moment, and then moving on to the next moment of experience.
