... verbirgt in sich zwei große Schwierigkeiten: 1. die Gabelung rechtzeitig zu erkennen 2. eine Richtungsentscheidung zu treffen Die meisten Firmen die in Schwierigkeiten geraten schaffen weder 1. noch 2. Die gute Nachricht besteht darin, dass es zunehmend mehr Leute gibt, die bereit sind uns auf die Gabelung aufmerksam zu machen. Und Alternativen vorzuschlagen die zum Erfolg führen könnten, insofern als wir bereit sind zuzuhören und zu handeln. Es ist allerdings leider um einiges schwieriger den gewählten Weg dann zu bestreiten als zu erkennen.
Immer weiter, immer in Bewegung bleiben! Conquering difficulties as you grow old. Why is this so difficult for most people? because most of us were told in childhood that the way to conquer a difficulty is to fight it and demolish it. That theory is, of course, the one that should be taught to young people. Many of the difficulties we encounter in youth are not permanent; and the combination of a heroic courage, a resolute will, and a tireless persistence will often — probably usually — break them down. But in later years the essential elements in the situation change. We find in our little world prison-walls which no amount of battering will demolish. Within those walls we must spend our day — spend them happily, or resentfully. Under these new circumstances we must deliberately reverse our youthful technique. We must gain victory, not by assaulting the walls, but by accepting them. Only when this surrender is made can we assure ourselves of inward quietness, and locate the next step on the road to ultimate victory.

Allein es gnüget, enden wird der Tag, Dann wissen wir sein Ende. – Kommt und fort! Bereits während meiner Schulzeit habe ich mir gewünscht, die Zukunft voraussehen zu können. Gern hätte ich in 1983 die Sicherheit gehabt, dass perbit sein 10-, 20- oder 30-jähriges Bestehen feiern würde. William Shakespeare erinnert uns deutlich daran, dass es nicht möglich ist "das Ende eines Tagwerks" vorauszusehen. Brutus und Cassius stehen kurz vor der Schlacht mit Augustus Cäser und wissen nicht ob sie gewinnen oder verlieren werden. Sie denken, dass sie vielleicht verlieren und über die Konsequenzen nach, glauben an den Sieg aber sie sind nicht sicher. Wie die meisten von uns, überlegt Brutus wie schön es wäre bereits im Voraus zu wissen, ob sie gewinnen werden oder nicht. Der Tag wird enden, und dann wird er es wissen, und das genügt.
